Sway Restaurant & Martini Bar will open Friday in Jacksonville Beach at the former Brasserie spot at 1312 Beach Blvd., said Joe Zacker, a partner in the new restaurant. The Brasserie closed in September.

Zacker — a former partner at The Capital Grille restaurant and Suite nightclub, both located in the St. Johns Town Center area — has been working on Sway’s casual upscale concept for about eight months, he said.

Sway’s island fusion cuisine is the creation of executive chef Ian Jernigan. The predominantly seafood menu includes steaks and chicken, too, and price points ranging from $9 (sandwich wrap) to $38 (bone-in ribeye steak), Zacker said. (Look for more menu details in a future post.)

BJ’s Restaurants, Inc. BJRI -2.38% today announced the opening of its newest restaurant in Jacksonville, Florida, on August 29, 2011. The new BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse is located on the northeast corner of Butler Boulevard and Gate Parkway next to the Costco Warehouse Club. The restaurant is approximately 8,500 square feet, contains seating for approximately 280 guests, and features BJ’s extensive menu including BJ’s signature deep-dish pizza, award-winning handcrafted beer and famous Pizookie(R) dessert. BJ’s highly detailed, contemporary decor and unique video statement, including BJ’s 103″ plasma display as well as several high-definition flat panel televisions, creates a high energy, fun and family-friendly dining environment for everyone to enjoy. Hours of operation are from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight Sunday through Thursday, and 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

“We are very excited to bring the BJ’s restaurant concept to Jacksonville, Florida,” commented Jerry Deitchle, Chairman and CEO. “Our Jacksonville restaurant is our seventh restaurant in Florida, where we have recently been achieving some of our strongest increases in comparable restaurant sales. We continue to believe that Florida will be a very fertile development ground for the BJ’s restaurant concept going forward. Currently, all seven of our restaurants in Florida are located in the central and northern parts of the state. We plan to open our first restaurant in South Florida later this year in Pembroke Pines, and we have several more potential locations targeted for future development throughout the entire state. To date, we have opened seven new restaurants during 2011. We remain on track to open as many as five to six more restaurants this year, thereby achieving our stated expansion goal to open as many as 12 to 13 new restaurants during 2011.”

BJ’s Restaurants, Inc. currently owns and operates 109 casual dining restaurants under the BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse or BJ’s Pizza & Grill brand names. BJ’s restaurants offer an innovative and broad menu featuring award-winning, signature deep-dish pizza complemented with generously portioned salads, appetizers, sandwiches, soups, pastas, entrees and desserts. Quality, flavor, value, moderate prices and sincere service remain distinct attributes of the BJ’s experience. The Company operates several microbreweries in addition to using qualified contract brewers to produce and distribute BJ’s critically acclaimed proprietary handcrafted beers throughout the chain. The Company’s restaurants are located in California (53), Texas (23), Arizona (6), Colorado (4), Oregon (2), Nevada (5), Florida (7), Ohio (2), Oklahoma (2), Kentucky (1), Indiana (1), Louisiana (1) and Washington (2).

Smashburger was born to carry the torch for the modern burger lover. Where smash. sizzle. savor means a dedication to creating the best-tasting “smashed-to-order” burger. We start with 100% Angus Beef, smashed, seared and seasoned on the grill, placed on a butter-toasted artisan bun and topped with the highest-quality cheeses, freshest produce and condiments. A place where you can get a meal for every taste and appetite, where you can select one of our great recipes or you can create your own. A place that is close to home and affordable. Where the energy is comfortable and relaxed. Where the food is served to you quickly and on a plate – not in a bag. — Smashburger is the better way.
Smashburger is fast becoming every city’s favorite place for burgers. It is perfect for eating in or having a better burger to go, a quick workday lunch, the weekend burger and beer, date night, a family dinner, or with the team after the game. Smashburger has something great for everyone. Along with our great-tasting burgers and smashfries – smashchicken sandwiches and signature salads, veggie frites and haystack onions, Häagen-Dazs shakes and bottled beer and wine – help make Smashburger every city’s favorite place for burgers

Smashburger of Jacksonville Beach is the first of a planned seven in the Jacksonville area over the next four years.

Franchisee Jim Crossen is already scouting out Jacksonville’s next location at the St. Johns Town Center, Mandarin, or others.

But given that Smashburger doesn’t build standalone restaurants, they will re-purpose an existing building in the right spot. This website is definitely rooting for a new cheeseburger spot in Jacksonville Town Center.
